The reason is airline flights, even short ones, have MASSIVE carbon emissions and are a huge contributor to greenhouse gases.
On average, airline travel emits 77 times more CO2 per passenger than trains on these short trips.
Plus, trains are often faster door-to-door because they link downtowns in each city.
Airports, on the other hand, are often outside of the city centers.
